In order to achieve your CPD hours you will need to do each of the following:

• Buy The Naked Lawyer (whichever independent Volume, or the complete box set containing all 12 Volumes: RIP to XXX) – it is, after all, a course in a book;
• Read the Volume(s);
• Do the activities – ‘just do something! ROAR steps’ – suggested within the Volume(s);
• Complete the Form and Achievement Record; and
• Claim your CPD hours through your normal route.

This course – The Naked Lawyer – aims to provide a foundation to help you market, brand and sell yourself in order to assist you to gain more sales leads, enquiries, referrals and clients and to lead to greater income, growth and success.

This is an introductory level course.

Intended Learning Outcomes

Having read The Naked Lawyer (the course materials), completed the activities (‘just do something! ROAR steps’) and completed the assessment Form and Achievement Record satisfactorily, you will have:

• Begun to explore different facets of your character;
• Started to learn about a range of psychological factors and driving forces which influence your attitudes and beliefs in creating a strategy and mindset for success;
• An appreciation of the key elements involved in personal marketing, personal branding, sales and business development;
• Learnt how to create a niche for yourself;
• Learnt how to devise an effective personal brand;
• Learnt how to build and leverage your very own referral network – fast, to last;
• Learnt how to use social media to build your brand, win business and enhance relationships with existing and new referrers and clients;
• Understood the importance of (and learnt) a range of communication and behaviour techniques;
• Learnt about extraordinary customer service methods and client relationship management techniques;
• An appreciation for innovation; and
• An appreciation for commercial savvy, business nous and the seduction of persuasion.

The point in carrying out the ‘after dark’ activities within The Naked Lawyer, and in particular the ROAR steps linked to the ‘just do something!’ throughout each Volume (and thereby attaining accreditation for the same) is for the activity to be beneficial and of value to YOU in your genuine personal and professional development, and NOT as a method of gaining ‘easy’ CPD accreditation hours via ‘form filling’.

Please do embrace this assessment in the spirit it is intended, and apply yourself wholeheartedly in true Naked Lawyer style throughout the duration, that is, with your SUUUCKS attitude and your PEE Poor Work Ethic (explanation in Volume 2).

It does not matter how long it may take you to complete the activities; there is no time limit.

I have estimated average hours based on my experience. I wish you to be honest in selecting the time it took you to undertake each activity. Please select the time which closely resembles yours when prompted in the Achievement Record.

This is not something to be rushed, taken lightly, or feigned…

This is YOUR LIFE, YOUR CAREER, YOUR PROFESSIONAL INTEGRITY…

By completing and submitting the Form you will be confirming that you have carried out the ‘just do something! ROAR steps’ activities detailed within a particular Volume of The Naked Lawyer.

You will be required to complete your Achievement Record together with the Form. Feel free to share things you learnt and are willing to share where you deem appropriate and relevant in the ‘Comments’ column.

The Naked Lawyer excerpt…

WARNING: whilst I will be dealing with serious matters by providing serious messages, solutions, material and ideas throughout The Naked Lawyer, you will no doubt have realised already that I have chosen to deliver the very same in a fun and informal kind of way.

In the Volumes which follow you will note that I continue in this approach together with an ‘adult’ element and theme throughout. Kind of.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s all done in, ‘the best possible taste’ ; I believe the late Kenny Everett would agree.

Why have I chosen this approach?

Well…

We read a lot of stuff, but more often than not cannot remember most of what we’ve just read. Key messages can be lost within a very short time frame.

Yet, we tend to be able to recall the things we read which tickle us…

It’s as simple as that really, plus…

The approach is new, it’s daring, it’s risqué, it’s fresh, it’s innovative, it has a new way of looking at things, and in its own unique way it’s kind of groundbreaking – certainly for the legal profession; a profession desperately needing to embrace new ways. As it is, generally speaking, at best it pays lip-service (on its surface), and at worst is stultifying in welcoming innovation and change.

Ironically, the approach which I speak of above, the approach of and within The Naked Lawyer, are all of the things we arguably need in this digital age, topsy-turvy era and transitional legal world right now.

I passionately believe we need to embrace change (because it’s happening all around us whether we like it or not), try new stuff, take some risks, be bold, break into new territory, and strike a balance between the seriousness and fun in both our professional and personal lives…

So, The Naked Lawyer is going to be a delightful mix of serious information combined with fun and sexiness…

I have every confidence that when you work through The Naked Lawyer, you will understand and appreciate precisely why The Naked Lawyer is an apt title for this eBook, on both a serious note and a fun note…

‘Never judge a book by its cover’, eh? Pah! It’s not called The Naked Lawyer for nothing.

Truly, this is one book cover where you can rely on your sound judgement.

So, if you don’t wish to have a laugh, either at me or yourself, then The Naked Lawyer is probably not your cup of tea. Go and work through a hum-drum professional or academic personal development / self-help / marketing / brand / sales book or educational programme or workshop instead, perhaps?
